General Atomics, Team Sky Guardian

The MQ-9B Sky Guardian unmanned aerial system will be integrated into the Australian Defence Force at the RAAF Base Edinburgh by General Atomics as part of AIR7003.

While the aircraft will also operate in the Northern Territory and Queensland, the operating crews, data analysis and intelligence staff will be wholey based in South Australia, with the project expected to create a number of high tech jobs for the state.

General Atomics launched what is now Team Sky Guardian at the 2017 Avalon Airshow, incorporating several Adelaide based companies (CAE, ACACIA Research, Raytheon, TAE Aerospace, Ultra Electronics Australia, Airspeed and Sentient Vision Systems), along with key partner Cobham who will provide aircraft support services to the project and have positioned themselves as the key maintenance, repair, launch, recovery and associated logistics partner for project AIR7003.
