Göran Roos was appointed as a strategic advisor to the Defence SA Advisory Board on 1 January 2017.
Göran is also a member of the Economic Development Board of South Australia, the advisory board for Investment Attraction South Australia, METS Ignited Australia Limited’s Research and Innovation Advisory Council, and an Invited Chair of CSIRO Manufacturing Business Unit Advisory Committee.
In the academic domain, he has made major contributions to the fields of intellectual capital, strategy, innovation management and industrial and innovation policy. He holds adjunct professorships in Australia and Singapore and sits on the editorial board of several journals.
Following on from his compulsory national service he reached the rank of major in the reserve with the third cavalry regiment, Swedish Armed Forces. He has advised numerous countries on improving performance in defence innovation and defence research and has taught at the Defence Academy of the United Kingdom.
In the business sector, he has worked in the field of defence electronics and founded and divested companies in Sweden, UK, US, Spain and Australia and holds board and board advisory positions at companies in Australia as well as internationally.
Göran was appointed ‘Manufacturing for the Future’ Thinker in Residence by the South Australian Premier for the year 2011 and an appointed member of the Prime Minister’s Manufacturing Leaders Group 2012-13. He was selected for Committee for Economic Development of Australia (CEDA) Top 10 Speeches 2013 for the speech: ‘The future of manufacturing in Australia: Innovation and productivity’.
Göran is a fellow of the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering (ATSE) and of the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences (IVA).
