South Australia’s defence brains are the best in the business.
A world-class education and training system and a supportive regional migration program underpin SA’s dynamic and experienced workforce. These form a pipeline that delivers highly skilled and motivated workers to the state’s defence sector.
The State Government, in partnership with defence industry, the Australian Government and local education institutions, continues to invest heavily in workforce development to deliver a pipeline of highly skilled workers to the state’s defence sector.
The Defence Industry Workforce Action Plan was launched in 2009 and provides a blueprint for the state to plan and further develop the state’s defence industry-ready workforce, now and in the future.
As at June 2009 24,766 people were employed in South Australia’s defence sector.
World class training
The state’s established universities underpin South Australia’s defence training capability, namely: the University of South Australia, Adelaide University and Flinders University.
