THREE WORLD CLASS DEFENCE PRECINCTS

Ensuring companies have the opportunity to network and collaborate is critical to their success.  To this end, the State Government has established three distinct defence precincts: Technology Park Adelaide, Edinburgh Parks and Techport Australia.

TECHPORT AUSTRALIA

Focused on the naval shipbuilding, systems and sustainment industries. Construction is well underway at Australia’s premier naval industry hub at Osborne.  Tenants include ASC Pty Ltd and the Air Warfare Destroyer Alliance.

TECHNOLOGY PARK ADELAIDE

Focused on defence electronics and systems development and integration. It is the State’s high technology precinct and located at Mawson Lakes.  Tenants include Saab Systems, BAE Systems, Raytheon Australia, CSC and Daronmont Technologies.

EDINBURGH DEFENCE PRECINCT

Focused on defence research, manufacturing, and sustainment in the land and aerospace environments. The precinct, in Adelaide’s north,  incorporates the State’s major Defence facilities – the Defence Science and Technology Organisation, RAAF Base Edinburgh and, from 2011, Army’s 7RAR Mechanised Battalion. Tenants include Australian Aerospace, Nova Defence, Lockheed Martin and the headquarters of BAE Systems Australia – by far, Australia’s largest defence firm.

ESTABLISHED DEFENCE PRESENCE

South Australia is also home to a large and varied contingent of Australian Defence Organisation facilities, with further expansion underway.

RAAF BASE EDINBURGH

Home to the Aerospace Operational Support Group and the 92 Wing Command which operates the AP-3C Orions.

DEFENCE SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY ORGANISATION EDINBURGH

The largest defence electronics research and development centre in the southern hemisphere.

CULTANA TRAINING AREA

An Army manoeuvre and weapons training facility, which is scheduled for major expansion over the next few years.

WOOMERA TEST RANGE

An international testing ground for missiles and space related activities.
