Precincts
Ensuring companies have the opportunity to network and collaborate is critical to their success. To this end, the State Government has established three distinct defence precincts across Adelaide: Techport Australia, Technology Park Adelaide and Edinburgh Defence Precinct. In addition, Defence own and operate a wide range of facilities in South Australia – with test and training areas concentrated in the State’s northwest and military bases/barracks and major research facilities concentrated in metropolitan Adelaide.
Techport Australia
Focused on naval shipbuilding, systems and sustainment, Techport Australia is the nation’s premier naval industry hub. The world-class facility is home to a range of companies including ASC, the AWD Alliance, Raytheon Australia, Pacific Marine Batteries and Babcock.

Technology Park Adelaide is the state’s high technology precinct with a strong focus on defence electronics, systems development and integration. It is home to major defence primes such as Saab Systems, BAE Systems Australia and Lockheed Martin Australia as well as a mass of innovative SMEs.

The Edinburgh Defence Precinct is a key national research, manufacturing and sustainment hub. It houses RAAF Base Edinburgh, the newly relocated 7RAR Battle Group, DSTO and a host of defence companies including BAE Systems Australia, Nova Group, Australian Aerospace, Lockheed Martin Australia and MTU Detroit Diesel.
