PACIFIC INTERNATIONAL MARITIME EXPOSITION

From 3 to 5 October 2017, South Australia The Defence State is leading a strong contingent of South Australian defence industry to attend the Pacific International Maritime Exposition (Pacific 2017) in Sydney, the only event of its kind in the Indo-Pacific region providing the ideal showcase for commercial maritime and defence industries to promote their capabilities.

Pacific is organised and conducted by Maritime Australia with the support from the Royal Australian Navy, Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority, the Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group, the Defence Science and Technology Group, the Department of Industry, Innovation and Science, the Department of Infrastructure and Regional Development and the Government of New South Wales.

The Royal Australian Navy will invite Navy Chiefs and senior Navy leaders from around the world to attend. In the order of 35 countries are expected to participate. With the support of other Australian Government agencies and a range of civil industry stakeholders, invitations are also being extended to international leaders in defence equipment acquisition and materiel, marine transport, security, environmental affairs, cargo handling, port services and maritime technology across the globe, with particular emphasis on the Asian and Indo-Pacific regions.

Pacific 2017 will have an increased focus on the commercial maritime sector as well as naval defence. A series of International Maritime Supply Chain Seminars will also provide intimate and informal forums where companies can engage with their counterparts from other nations to identify common challenges, opportunities and solutions.

The event will provide delegates, exhibitors, participants and visitors with a unique opportunity to meet with their peers, potential suppliers and customers. Issues and proposals will be discussed, ideas and information exchanges, contacts made and networks developed.

The attraction and development of maritime, systems, science and technology capabilities are core pillars of the South Australia Defence Strategy 2015-2025.  Representation at Pacific 2017 is critical to provide an opportunity for South Australian industry to connect with primes in the global supply chain for Future Frigate, Future Submarine and the Offshore Patrol Vessel programs.

25 local South Australian companies, research institutions and government departments will join the South Australian Government stand (Hall 3, stand 3U5) at the Pacific 2017 exhibition. The list of companies exhibiting on Defence State stand has been provided below:
