Techport Australia
Techport Australia – Australia’s premier naval industry hub – is being developed at Osborne, South Australia.
South Australia is investing over $300 million in state-owned infrastructure at the hub. This will support ASC to deliver the Royal Australian Navy’s next generation $8 billion Air Warfare Destroyers and attract other shipbuilding and repair opportunities.
Techport Australia will feature:
- common user shipbuilding facilities comprising a massive ship lift (Australia’s largest), transfer system and wharf
- a 35+ hectare supplier precinct for sub-contractors to establish operations on site and develop strong and efficient supply chains, and
- a commercial precinct, including:
- an on-site Maritime Skills Centre to provide trade and technical skills for the hub’s users
- the high tech AWD Systems Centre, which brings together all of the engineering disciplines necessary to design, build and deliver the AWDs, and
- supporting commercial and retail accommodation
- access to national transport network including road, rail and deep sea port, and
- a high speed optical fibre network link to major research, defence and education sites across South Australia
