Edinburgh Defence Precinct

The Edinburgh Defence Precinct is located within Edinburgh Parks – the largest industrial park in South Australia.  It is situated 25 kilometres north of Adelaide’s CBD.

The precinct is home to some of the state’s major Defence facilities – the Defence Science and Technology OrganisationRAAF Base Edinburgh and from 2011, Army’s 1,200 person 7RAR Mechanised Battalion.  Edinburgh Defence Precinct is set to become one of Australia’s only ‘super bases’ – with space reserved for further expansion.  Construction of around $600 million of infrastructure is underway.

Edinburgh Defence Precinct has also been identified as the future home of the multi-mission unmanned aerial system (Air 7000) and the Integrated Ground Environment. These make up the core of Australia’s future intelligence surveillance and reconnaissance capability.

The defence industry is also undertaking significant work in the Edinburgh Defence Precinct, particularly in the areas of defence research support, manufacturing and sustainment.

The headquarters of BAE Systems Australia – by far the largest defence firm in Australia, and Australian Aerospace, Nova Defence and Lockheed Martin are all tenanted in the precinct.

Edinburgh Parks is spread across approximately 650 hectares and offers convenient access to major rail and road links.  For more information visit Edinburgh Parks.
