The State Government is resolutely committed to further success for the state's defence industry.

Defence SA is South Australia's lead government agency for all defence matters and is the nation's only stand-alone state defence organisation. Its task is clear - growing Defence presence and building a sustainable defence industry for South Australia.

The state's Defence SA Advisory Board is a formidable line-up of the nation's top Defence and defence industry brainpower, including its Chairman and former Chief of Defence Force General Peter Cosgrove AC MC, former Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Professor Hon Kim Beazley AC, and former Chief of Air Force Air Marshal Les Fisher AO.

BILLIONS OF DOLLARS OF DEFENCE PROJECTS

Over the next decade, South Australia is on target to deliver billions of dollars of defence projects across all sections; including:

• $8 billions Air Warfare Destroyer build contract
• multibillion dollar, 25 year Collins class through-life support contract; and
• a new 1,200 person Mechanised Battalion Group from 2011.

These projects and the state's three world-class defence precincts - Edinburgh Parks, Technology Park Adelaide and Techport Australia - underpin South Australia's reputation as the Defence State.
